Summary[]

Malt Vieoh, a lonely dork orphan that every geek picks on, dreams of becoming a successful PWNer like Marvin the Hacker, his idol. He gets his chance when his home, Redlink Abbey, is attacked by an evil cracker named Looney the Purge, who wants to rule the whole of the Lichenblossom Isles. As Redlink and Looney face off in the ultimate cyberwar, Malt and his eccentric footwear-obssessed mentor, Mashufellah, find a series of clues that may lead them to the famed megalaser of Marvin -- Shoop-Da-Whoop. The clues lead first to Marvin's grave, then up to the Abbey rooftop, where Malt and Mahshufellah discover that Shoop-Da-Whoop has been pointing from a satellite dish since the last days of Olde Antarctica. However, when they recruit Jennifer the Master JetPacker to fly up to the dish and retrieve the laser, she is attacked by a flock of focci. One geek manages to stun a singular ellipse with a low-voltage taser, and it is imprisoned in a spare room. After finding out from the focci that her clan possesses a large laser, Malt decides to bargain with the focci -- if she leads him up to the roof, he will let her go. The two become friends mid-climb, but once they reach the rooftop, Malt is set upon by the focci.
